The Shepherds

Look today with me to Luke 2:8-9  which says, And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flocks by night. And lo, the angel of the lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. Why would our Lord make His birth announcement to shepherds.One reason  is because of their lowliness. They were always in the most humble of situation. Another reason is because of their faithfulness . They were watching the flock at night. David the shepherd took on a bear and lion to keep his flock safe. The last reason was their  uniqueness.Our Lord was the good shepherd, the great shepherd, and the Bishop and Shepherd of my soul. On top of that He who was the Shepherd became a lamb that I a sheep could be with the shepherd.
